Level 5: Advanced Exercise 47 of 52 Pro

Lazy vs greedy: the first quoted text

A regex exercise from Regexdrill. Solve it with a pattern box with live highlighting in your browser, checked against hidden test strings, and it is checked the moment you submit.

The task

Capture the text inside the first pair of double quotes on the line in group 1. It can be empty.

What this exercise teaches

"(.*?)" stops at the first closing quote. The greedy "(.*)" runs to the last quote on the line.

A hint if you get stuck

*? is the lazy version of *: it matches as little as possible.
