Named groups: year, month, day
A regex exercise from Regexdrill. Solve it with a pattern box with live highlighting in your browser, checked against hidden test strings, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Find the first date written YYYY-MM-DD and capture its parts in named groups called year, month and day.
What this exercise teaches
(?<year>\d{4})-(?<month>\d{2})-(?<day>\d{2}) names each part, so code can read match.groups.year instead of counting parentheses.
A hint if you get stuck
Name a group with (?<name>...).
