The task
Lines are comma-separated with no quoting. Fields can contain spaces and can be empty. Capture the third field in group 1. Lines with fewer than three fields give no match.
What this exercise teaches
^(?:[^,]*,){2}([^,]*) skips exactly two fields from the start of the line and captures whatever comes before the next comma.
A hint if you get stuck
Anchor at the start, skip two fields with a counted group of not-a-comma then a comma, then capture.
