Keep only the digits
A regex exercise from Regexdrill. Solve it with a pattern box with live highlighting in your browser, checked against hidden test strings, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Remove every character that is not a digit, so phone numbers in any format become plain digits.
What this exercise teaches
\D with the g flag and an empty replacement deletes every non-digit, whatever the separators are.
A hint if you get stuck
\D is the opposite of \d: any character that is not a digit.
