Regexdrill

Level 4: Extraction and cleanup Exercise 41 of 52 Pro

Strip HTML tags

A regex exercise from Regexdrill. Solve it with a pattern box with live highlighting in your browser, checked against hidden test strings, and it is checked the moment you submit.

The task

Remove every HTML tag (anything from < to the next >) and keep the text between tags. A lone < with no closing > stays.

What this exercise teaches

<[^>]+> with the g flag and an empty replacement removes each tag on its own.

A hint if you get stuck

A greedy .+ runs to the last > on the line. A negated class stops at the first one.
